This program begins with trekking Santa Cruz - Llanganuco one of the treks more popular in Peruvian Andes, and we will have the opportunity of climbing to the mountain Pisco 5752mt and finally we will finalize with mountain Chopicalqui 6354m.
Day 1: Huaraz _ Cashapampa 2900mt _ Llamacorral Camp at 3760mt
We drive north in a private bus along the Callejón de Huaylas passing through different
districts such as: Carhuas (2650m), Yungay (2500m) and to Caraz city (2400m), then we drive up to Cashapampa where the Donkey Driver will be waiting for us to transport our Camping equipments, from here we will start hiking up to the first camp Llamacorral.
Day 2: Llamacorral _ Visit Base Camp Alpamayo_Taullipampa Camp at 4250m
we will hike along the Santa Cruz Valley. It is a fearly easy walking and we will pass
the beautiful turquoise lakes called Ichikcocha and Jatuncocha. There is an optional hike
up to the Alpamayo base camp, and then we will return on a short cut path for few hours
to the next camp at Taullipampa.
Day 3: Taullipampa _ Punta Union Pass 4750mt _ Cachinapampa Camp at 3750mt
A wonderful day as we will start hiking up for about 3 and half hours to the Punta Union pass (4750m) where we will have lunch enjoying the splendid views of the mountains, landscapes, matching its natural mountain colours in the blue sky, the white mountains. Then we will descend for about 3 hours to Cachinapampa camp site at (3750m).
Day 4: Cachinapampa _ Pacchapata Camp at 3760mt
We continue walking down to Colcabamba town for about 2 hours approximately, then we walk up for an hour more to get a good place camp to have lunch enjoying the nice views of contrahiervas mountain range, then we will go to the next camp at Pacchapata (3760m).
Day 5: Pacchapata _ Pass Portachuelo Llanganuco 4767mt _ Cebollapampa Camp at 4100mt
A wonderful day as we will start hiking up for about 4 and half hours to the Pass
Portachuelo Llanganuco 4767mt where we will have lunch enjoying the splendid views of the mountains, landscapes, matching its natural mountain colors in the blue sky, the white mountains. Then we will descend for about 4 hours to Cebollapampa.
Day 6: Cebollapampa _ Base Camp Pisco Camp at 4765mt
then our gear is loaded onto the donkeys and we climb on a good path to Pisco Base Camp (4765m). There is a Refugio there where you can buy beer, and wine.
Day 7: Base Camp Pisco _ Summit Pisco (5753m) _ Base Camp at 4300mt
We will have breakfast at 2:00am, and we will hike up for 1-hour aprox on the rocky path and then put on our climbing gear to walk in the glacier on a fairly steep walk up to the summit (5753m). From the summit we will have a splendour view of mountains Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Artesonraju, Huandoy after enjoying the mountain views we will return to Base Camp.
Day 8: Base Camp Pisco _ Base Camp Chopicalqui at 4300m
after having our last breakfast on the base camp of the Pisco, we will descend to Cebollapampa and departure to Camp base Chopicalqui to 4300m
Day 9: Base Camp – Moraine Camp at (4900mt)
Continue the approach, arriving to the moraine camp mid-afternoon.
Day 10: Moraine Camp _ Camp 1 Chopicalqui Camp at (5300mt)
Continue up to the High Camp located at the very foot of the glacier. That night we prepare for the following days summit climb.
Day 11: Camp 1 – Summit Chopicalqui (6354mt) _ Base Camp (4300mt)
Summit day! We wake at 2:00am and after a light breakfast depart for the summit at 3:00am. Around 8:00am we arrive at the summit and discover why everyone talks about the view! We return to our camp around 2:00pm and continue on back down to the Base Camp.
Day 12: Base Camp – Return to Huaraz
We trek out to Llanganuco and then return to Huaraz.Time to relax after the climbing and celebrate.
