In this 9 days trek we’ll climb two summits and walk all the way around Ausangate Mountain. For the ascent of Ausangate we’ll be getting up at midnight. Our route is on the south face of the mountain and we should get to the summit around 6am, after crossing the glaciar, climbing up a 120m wall and walking on the arris.
Program:
Day 01: Cusco – Rodeana – Upis
We’ll leave Cusco at 7:30am to take a private transport to the pueblo of Rodeana, at 3700mts. From Rodeana we’ll walk till the Upis campsite, at 4210mts, which will be a 4 hour hike approximatedly.
Day 02: Upis- Pachaspata – Campo Base
Early in the morning we’ll start our walk to the Ausangate viewpoint, crossing the Azulcocha Valley, with beautiful turquoise lagoons. We’ll camp at Pachaspata, at 4750m, arriving there around 3pm. This day we’ll have dinner and sleep very early, to prepare ourselves for the ascent of Qampa.
Day 03: Campo Base- Cumbre De Qampa-Ticllecocha
To the ascent of Qampa we’ll leave the base camp at 4am. After a 1h30 walk we’ll reach the glaciar and keep ascending till the Summit, on a route without technical difficulties. We’ll reach the summit around 8h30am. We’ll descend on another trek, towards Ticllecocha lagoons, where we’ll campa t 4600m. From the summit till the next campsite it will be a 3h30 walk approximatedly. We’llhave the afternoon to relax, explore the laggons and get prepared for the hike up to Ausangate base camp.
Day 04: Ticllecocha – Campo Base Ausangate
This day we should start walking around 8am. After crossing some low passes, we’ll descend till the base camp, at 4800m, which is already pretty close to the morrein. We’ll get there around 12pm. Our next two days of trekking will be going up, so this day we should haver dinner and sleep early.
Day 05: Campo Base – Campo Morrena
Another short Day of walking, but when only the basic camping equipment and all the climbing gear will be taken to the morrein campsite, for the horses won’t come up with us. From the base camp to the morrein campsite (5370m) we’ll walk for approximatedly 3h30, all the way going up. Each client will have to carry their personal things, sleeping bag, climbing gear.
Day 06: Campo Morrena – Summit – Campo Base
For the ascent of Ausangate we’ll be getting up at midnight. Our route is on the south face of the mountain and we should get to the summit around 6am, after crossing the glaciar, climbing up a 120m wall and walking on the arris. To descend we’ll rappel down the 120m of the wall and get back to morrein campsite on the same trek. We’ll Pack our gear and then go back to the base camp, where we’ll spend the night.
Day 07: Campo Base – Puccacochas
After breakfast we’ll start our 5 hours walk to the Puccacochas campsite. We’ll cross the Palomani pass (5160m), with spectacular views of Ausangate and Mariposa mountains. Then go down to Puccacochas campsite. In this área there are beautiful glaciar lagoons to be explored.
Day 08: Puccacochas – Upis
This Day we’ll walk for approximatedly 6 hours till Upis campsite. There are hot springs nearby, perfect for relaxing after the trekking. To get there we have to cross the Arapa pass (4650m).
Day 09: Upis – Tinke – Cusco
A day with a easy 3hour stroll donw to Tinke and then take our private transport to Cusco, where we should arrive around 4pm.

We Recommend that you bring:
- A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek
- Rain jacket or Poncho (Plastic rain Ponchos can be purchased in Cusco or on the way to the trail starting point)
- Strong footwear, ideally trekking or sport shoes
- Warm clothes, including sweater and jacket
- Sleeping bag
- Mattress (by us but to be carried by you)
- Flashlight and batteries
- Camera, film and batteries
- Hat or cap to protect your face from the sun/cold
- Sun block
- Insect repellent
- Toilet paper
- Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, etc
- Water bottle and sterilizing tablets (ie. Micropur)
Additional Options
1) porters can be hired to help carry your personal items such as clothes, sleeping bag etc. The services of a third of a porter (maximum 18kg or 18lb per person) can be hired for US$180. If you hire the services of a third of a porter (you will need to supply the small padlock). However, even with this service you will still need to take a daypack to carry your essential items such as rain poncho, warm fleece, camera and water bottle.
Please note that due to new government regulations the maximum number of porters that we can use in each group has now been capped. This is why we have had to limit the maximum amount of personal equipment that you can give to a porter to carry for you to 5kg or 18lb per person. (The maximum amount that each porter can carry on the Inca Trail has also been limited to 18kg or 20lb per porter). Approximately 40% of our clients hire the services of an extra third porter.

Important information for Inca Trail Machu Picchu
They allowed only 500 people per day Inca Trail. This number includes tourists, guides, porters and cooks. The quotas are for everyone, people who want to do the Inca Trail. So to walk the Inca Trail is essential to book months in advance.
The availability of quotas for the Inca Trail is the same for all agencies. Thus, if there were available no agency can get space for the Inca Trail.
We will buy your Inca Trail trek permit using the names & passport numbers that you send us with your trek booking application. You must bring these same passports with you to Cusco and take them on the Inca Trail. If the name or number in your passport is different from the name and number on the trek permit, the government authorities will not allow you to start the trek and you will not be entitled to a refund. If you plan to renew your passport between making the trek booking and actually starting the trek you will must bring both passports (New and Old). If you make a trek booking at the student price you must send us a copy of your ISIC card at the time you pay the trek deposit. If you fail to bring your ISIC card on the trek the government authorities will not allow you to start the trek. You will not be given the opportunity to pay the extra difference in Price.
